Family and Community Education Club
Planning Meeting — The Rhea County UT Extension Office will be offering Family and Consumer
Education Clubs beginning in 2014. Previously known by names such as Home Demonstration Clubs and
Extension Homemakers, FCE clubs provide an opportunity to meet with friends and learn through shared
experiences, improve home and community life, strengthen adult education, promote projects which

Veteran’s Employment Representative of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development

Dayton Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild —
The Dayton Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild will meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the

Girl Scout Troop 40895
International Tea (2/6) — Girl Scout Troop 40895 invites the public to attend an international tea
on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Clyde W. Roddy Library, located at 371 First Avenue in Dayton,

Rhea County Republican Party Meeting (2/6) — The Rhea County Republican Party
will meet at their headquarters located at 1359 Railroad Street in Dayton on Thursday, Feb. 6, at
7 p.m. There will be no executive committee meeting.
Free Tax Help From VITA in Spring City
(2/7 - 4/4) — Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will provide free tax help to the elderly,
handicapped and low income every Friday until April 4 at the old SouthEast Bank building in Spring
City, between 1 and 5 p.m. Those interested are asked to bring a copy of last year’s tax
return, all W-2 forms and other pertinent tax information. For more information, call

Dayton Lodge F&A.M #512 Scholarship
Fundraiser Breakfast (2/8)— The Dayton Lodge #512 F&AM located on Second Avenue in Dayton will
hold a funraiser breakfast to benefit the Wallace Rice Memorial Scholarship on Saturday, Feb. 8,

Graysville Children’s Valentine Dance (2/8) — Graysville
Parks Board will host a Children’s Valentine Dance on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
park’s community building. Children 12 and under are invited to come and enjoy light refreshments,

Alma Holloway Benefit (2/8) — A benefit for the late Alma Holloway will be
held Saturday, Feb. 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Spring CIty United Methodist
Church. The benefit will include an auction, a Boston butt dinner plate sale, a bake sale and music
from Texas Grove Baptist Church, Jim and Edna Miller, Drake Taylor and George Thacker and his
harmonica. Proceeds will go towards paying Alam Holloway’s medical and funeral
expenses. Donations for the benefit are being accepted at Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring
Daughters of the American Revolution Meeting (2/13) — The Rhea-Craig chapter of
the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Thursday, Feb. 13, at 3 p.m. in the Sweetwater

Free Beekeeping Short Course (2/15) —
A course designed for those interested in learning to keep honeybees will be held on Saturday,
Feb. 15 at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 205 Mill Road in Wartburg, Tenn., from 8:30 a.m. to

Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (2/22)
— The Civil Air Patrol will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal
Airport on Saturday, Feb. 22. The all-you-can-eat cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under
10. The event will be held rain or shine.

Graysville Parks Board Hot Dog & Chili Fundraiser (3/8) — Graysville Parks Board will host a hot dog and chili dinner
fundraiser on Saturday, March 8, from noon to 8 p.m. at Kristopher’s Kingdom (the Graysville
Ballpark). Take out plates will be available. Donations of hot dogs, chili, chips drinks and
desserts are welcome. Proceeds will benefit the events and activities at Kristopher’s Kingdom.
