Family and Community Education Club
Planning Meeting — The Rhea County UT Extension Office will be offering Family and Consumer
Education Clubs beginning in 2014. Previously known by names such as Home Demonstration Clubs and
Extension Homemakers, FCE clubs provide an opportunity to meet with friends and learn through shared
experiences, improve home and community life, strengthen adult education, promote projects which
enhance family and community life and to have fun! For more information, contact Anna Johnson
Gabrielle’s Posse Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Raffle Event — The Shaver/Floyd
family will be raffling off two one-night stay packages in Chattanooga. Tickets are $5 for one
ticket or $10 for three tickets. Drawing will be held on Jan. 31 at Walgreens in Dayton.

Dayton Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild — The Dayton Piecemaker’s Quilt
Guild will meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the Dayton Community Chapel Church,

Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (1/25) — The Civil Air
Patrol will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport on Saturday, Jan.
25. The all-you-can-eat cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The event will be held
rain or shine.
Howard L. Taylor 90th Birthday Celebration (1/25) — A 90th birthday
celebration for former Rhea County School Superintendent Howard L. Taylor will be held Saturday,
Jan. 25, 2014, at New Union Baptist Church in Dayton. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m.

Walden’s Ridge Community Center Dinner & Meeting (1/28) — The
Walden’s Ridge Community Center will host a Pot-Luck Dinner and Informational Meeting on Tuesday,
Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. The meeting will include guest speakers, election of 2014 officers,
suggestions for property improvements and discussions for future community programs among other

Girl Scout Troop 40895 International Tea (2/6) — Girl Scout Troop
40895 invites the public to attend an international tea on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Clyde W. Roddy

girls from three countries. Refreshments will be served.
Free Tax Help From VITA in Spring
City (2/7 - 4/4) — Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will provide free tax help to the
elderly, handicapped and low income every Friday until April 4 at the old SouthEast Bank building in
Spring City, between 1 and 5 p.m. Those interested are asked to bring a copy of last year’s
tax return, all W-2 forms and other pertinent tax information. For more information, call

Daughters of the American Revolution Meeting
(2/13) — The Rhea-Craig chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet
Thursday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. in the Sweetwater Library. The hostess will be Marcia Long and the
