Area students in grades four to 12 are invited to audition for the Bryan College Community Children’s Choir (grades four through eight) or Youth Choir (grades nine through 12) for the coming year. Auditions will be held Jan. 9, at 4 p.m. in Room 109 of Rudd Auditorium.
Students selected through the audition process will practice weekly, working toward their combined Spring performance on April 27, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Children’s Choir will rehearse on Mondays from 4:15 to 5 p.m., and choir members work on sight reading skills, vocal production, blend and balance as they learn and memorize music for concerts. Their repertoire includes classical, spiritual and traditional sacred music. The Youth Choir will learn music in a variety of styles and develop musicianship in the context of ensemble performance. They will rehearse on Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Both choirs have a $25 per-semester fee, and the Youth Choir has a one-time uniform fee. Practices will be held in the chorale suite, room 109, on the lower level of Rudd Auditorium.
