Great Punkin Chase 5k Run/1 Mile Walk (10/5) — Chapter 942 of Vietnam Veterans of America present the 1st Annual Soddy-Daisy Great Punkin Chase 5k and 1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Soddy-Daisy North Park. Rhea County Veterans Coordinating Committee (10/8) — The Rhea County Veterans Coordinating Committee will hold their regularly scheduled quarterly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Brady-Williams Post 100 building, located at 378 First Avenue in Dayton. All honorably discharged veterans, active duty military and family and friends of military veterans are invited and encouraged to attend. No dues are required. Local Authors at Clyde W. Roddy Library (10/10) — K B Ballentine and Bruce Majors will be at the Clyde W. Benefit Poker Run (10/12) — A benefit poker run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Minner Hole Lounge , located at 12169 Old Dayton Pike in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. The $20 per bike poker run will benefit the Soddy Daisy Health Care and Life Care Center of Rhea County nursing homes.
