The Rhea Medical Healthcare Foundation is gearing up for the 8th Annual
Timothy Morrow Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for Wednesday,
September 4, at the Dayton Golf & Country Club. Funds raised from
this event will be used to support the healthcare of Rhea County through
the provision of state-of-the-art equipment, programs and services
delivered through Rhea Medical Center.
Following a delicious
breakfast and/or luncheon, golfers will take to the links where several
hole-in-one prizes await. In addition there will be very special prizes
for the top three winning teams, longest drive, straightest drive and
closest to the pin.
“This is always a great event,” said chairman
Butch Morrow. “There are a number of ways to show your support. You
could enter a team, become a sponsor or provide a prize. We would
certainly appreciate any assistance you were willing to provide.” For

The Rhea County High School Lady Eagle basketball team is sponsoring a celebrity serve at BIMBO’s restaurant on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 5-9 p.m. All tips received that night will go to the Lady Eagle Basketball Booster Club. Members of the Lady Eagle basketball team will serve as greeters, hostesses, and waitresses for each guest that night. Come enjoy a great meal and be treated to wonderful service from the Lady Eagles.
Also, at each home football and basketball game between now and December 21, you can find the Lady Eagle Basketball Booth/table and see the donated NFL jerseys and make a donation to Lady Eagle Basketball. Each donation will give you an opportunity to win one of the jerseys. The winners of the jerseys will be announced during the final night of the Eagle Holiday Hoops Tournament on Saturday, December 21, between the girl’s and boy’s championship games. You do not have to be present to win. NFL jerseys include Tom Brady, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Ben Roethlisberger.
The Dayton Girls Softball Association [DGSA] will host a fall tournament on Sept. 6 and 7. Registration for teams will be $40 and first and second place teams will receive team trophies. 6U and 8U will get participation awards. The Rhea Family YMCA is now taking registrations for the Fall Youth Soccer League for ages 3-13. A coaches’ meeting will be held on Aug.15, at 6 p.m. and a parents meeting will be on Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.

Dayton Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Classic to be held at the Dayton Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, Sept. 18, with lunch at 12 p.m. and a 1 p.m. tee off. The fee for the four person select shot team is $240, hole sponsorship is $60, team mulligans (eight per team) will be $40 and shooting from the red tees is $40 (eight per team). Teams can save $30 when all of the above four options are purchased.
