Five Rhea County High School athletes were recently named to the Chattanooga area Best of Preps in their respective sports.
Sarah Freels made the first team list for her efforts on the softball field and Jacob Revis received the first team nod for football.
Madalyn Garland made the second team list in cross-country, while Jalen Smith made the second team list for basketball and Nick McWherter made the third team list for tennis.
The GOLDEN EAGLE TENNIS CAMP will be held Monday, July 8, through Thursday, July 11, with Friday, July 12, set aside for rain date if needed. Rhea County High School tennis coaches Nathan Talley and Lil Andrews are directing the annual tennis camp for boys and girls, ages 6-17 at the Delaware Avenue tennis courts in Dayton.
The daily hours for the camp will be 8:30—11:30 a.m. Various age and ability groups are accommodated on separate courts. Breakfast and lunch, as well as snacks and prizes, are provided. The Spring City Middle School [SCMS] football workouts will continue starting Monday, July 8, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
The workouts will be held at the football field of SCMS. The workouts will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Players are reminded to bring shorts, t-shirt and both tennis shoes and cleats.
Due to the TSSAA changing the regulations and the starting date of practices for the 2013 season, practice will begin now on July 22. Players will all need to have a physical before they are allowed to practice.

Tryouts for the Rhea County High School baseball team will be held on Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12, at the RCHS baseball field. Tryouts begin at 5 p.m.
The RCHS Touchdown Club is sponsoring the Rhea County Golden Eagle Football Golf Tournament on Wednesday, July 17, at the Dayton Golf and Country Club, with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. and tee-off at 1 p.m.
The four-person select shot tournament will present prizes to the first, second and third-place finishers, along with door prizes and goody bags and prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

The Rhea County Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will host its annual camp at Rhea County High School from Monday, July 15, through Thursday, July 18, and will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 5-9 p.m onThursday.
The cost is $40 per camper, which includes a t-shirt for the week and lunch daily. Campers will compete in various sports such as touch football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and soccer. Campers will also participate in daily devotions and praise and worship time. Huddle leaders will be current and former RCHS players and coaches. The Rhea Family YMCA is holding swim lesson sessions this summer at Fort Bluff Camp.
There are four sessions in the morning from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Thursday each week and four sessions in the evening 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday- Thursday.
Ages are from 6 months old and up.
The dates for the sessions are as follows: session one - June third through June 13; session two - June 17 through June 27; session three - July 1 through July 12 and session four July 15 through July 25.

Signups for the Spring City Red Dog football season will be held every Saturday in June, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Red Dog football field for players and cheerleaders.
