Rhea County Commissioners voted Tuesday to purchase land near Eagle Exxon on Manufacturers Road in Dayton for the purpose of constructing a new jail or justice center at a price tag of $350,000.
In a 6-2 vote, commissioners opted to purchase the 8.5-acre property, which was owned Dayton Mayor Gary Louallen, using revenue obtained from the county’s litigation tax.
