Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).
Living hope and unspeakable joy are the heritage of all whose sins are forgiven by grace through faith in Christís one sufficient sacrifice forever by reason of His resurrection from the dead [verse 1]. How often our blood-bought salvation is lightly esteemed! The glitter of earthly gain and privilege seems more attractive, being visible and immediate. Peter here fans the flame of dying devotion, urging believers to focus on our heavenly inheritance, though it be invisible but eternal.
