Free Basic Introduction to Computer Class — Rhea County Adult Education will offer a free Basic Introduction to Computer class in mid-April. Those interested in registering are asked to call 365-5020 and leave their name and phone number.
Rhea-Craig Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution Meeting (4/11) — The Rhea-Craig Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Thursday, April 11, at 3 p.m. in the Sweetwater Library. Kathy Tyler will be the hostess for the meeting and Barbara McKeel will present a program on Revolutionary Patriots of Meigs County. All members are encouraged to bring a friend to the meeting.
Free Parenting Class (4/11 & 25) — A free parenting class will be held on Thursday, April 11, and Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bright Beginnings Academy, located at 861 Manufacturers Road in Dayton. The “Building Blocks for Parents” class is sponsored by First Things First in partnership with The Rhea County United Way and Bright Beginnings Academy. Rhea County Democrats Meeting (4/12) — A Rhea County Democrats reorganization meeting will be held on Friday, April 12, at the Rhea County Courthouse on the second floor. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.. For information call Doris Roy 365-2836.
Rise Up Youth Conference (4/12-13) — Women’s Care Center’s The Edge and High Impact Teens have partnered to host the First Annual Rise Up Youth Conference on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spring City Middle School Gymnasium. The conference will include former UT Volunteer football star Inky Johnson for a special two-night book signing and autograph event. Friday night will feature a musical performance by Red Letter Disciple. Dreams of Kings will perform on Saturday. Cost of the event will be $5. Concessions will be available. Eric Layne Memorial Open Car Show (4/13) — The Second Annual Open Car Show in memory of Eric Layne will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Point Park in Dayton. Trophies, dash plaques, food, music and door prizes will be available. Tickets will be sold for a reproduction of an antique gas globe lamp and a Nine West pocket book. Proceeds will go to the ALS Association (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Fourth Annual Dennis Whittaker Memorial Scavenger Hunt (4/13) — The Spring City Parks and Recreation Commission will host the Fourth Annual Dennis Whittaker Memorial Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, April 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with team registration at the City Hall Building in Spring City. Entry fee for each team is $30 and team membership is limited to the number of people that can fit into the team vehicle safely (secured with seat belts). Teams will return to the City Hall Building with their hunt lists by 5 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to first through third place winners. Watts Bar Yacht Club Meeting (4/13) — The Watts Bar Yacht Club will meet at Lakeside/White Creek Marina on Saturday, April 13, at beginning at 4 p.m. with a social hour and continuing at 5 p.m. with the regular meeting. There will also be a CPR class at Lakeside Marina on Thursday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. This will be open to the public at no charge but we are asking for donations. Evensville Fire Department & Association (4/13) — The Evensville Fire Department and Association will be having a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 13, from 7 to a.m. at the new Evensville Fire Hall #745 on Eagle Lane. The breakfast will be followed by the Fire Dept. Mud Bog at the C & H Arena starting at 3 p.m. with gates opening at 2 p.m. Entry fee $20.00 for two runs. Rhea County Sheriffs Department will be providing concessions to benefit the toy drive. Admission is $5 for ages 10 to adult, $3 for ages four to nine, and free for three and under . No coolers or alcohol beverages will be allowed.
80th Birthday Party for Rita Moore (4/13) — An 80th birthday party will be held for former Rhea County resident Rita Moore on Saturday, April 13, from noon until 3 p.m. at St. Paul Episcopal Church, located at 315 East Main Street in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Bryan College Community Youth and Children’s Choir Spring Concert (4/14) — The Bryan College Community Youth and Children’s Choirs along and Instrumental Ensembles will hold a spring concert on Sunday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located on Hwy. 30 East in Dayton. The concert will feature selections from Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” multicultural music and a Bach violin concerto. The event is free and open to the public.

Benefit Chili Lunch and Auction for Dedra Reed Crass (4/20) — A benefit chili lunch and auction is being organized for Dedra Reed Crass who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Audrey Pack Memorial Library Community Yard Sale (4/27) — The Friends of the Audrey Pack Memorial Library in Spring City will host a community yard sale on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the library on W. Rhea Avenue. Booth space may be reserved at a cost of $8 on the hardtop or $6 on the lawn. Participants must furnish their own tables. The Friends will offer baked goods for sale and welcome donations of household items for their white elephant table.
