I know that whenever I open the mailbox and find a letter from Phyllis Thurman that it is going to be filled with good things. The last time I saw Phyllis was at the Old Washington Celebration and she was dressed as an early settler and was talking to a “Native American” woman, and did they ever look the part! I had not heard from her in a while, but after I read her letter, I could understand why! Hurry and get well, Phyllis, and thanks for sharing these delicious recipes with us today.
In her letter Phyllis writes:
I wanted to share some recipes of two best friends that I lost ten days apart, and they both lived in Decatur. I met Edna Wiggins on this side of the river when she worked at Smith’s Country Store here in Old Washington. When I went to work at Piggly Wiggly in Decatur, I met Ruth Pratt. The Lord has blessed me with friends both young and old, and these were two of the nicest women I ever knew.
