Rhea County teams ousted at District 5-AAA tournament; Mustangs edge Golden Eagles 59-54 in thriller

The Rhea County High School Golden Eagles’ basketball team enjoyed an 11-point lead in the first half over the Walker Valley Mustangs in the opening round of the District 5-AAA tournament on Friday but eventually fell 59-54.  The loss ended the Eagles’ season at 11-16 overall.

Heading into the game, Rhea head coach Mike Phillips knew his team was well prepared.
