Rhea matmen hit region  Pictured is RCHS heavyweight wrestler Daniel Cochran taking his opponent to the mat just before he pinned him to advance to the TSSAA state wrestling tournament in Franklin, Tenn., beginning on Thursday, Feb. 14, and finishing on Saturday, Feb.16.
Author: Ernie Harris Four of Rhea County High School’s best wrestlers took the mat at the Region 3-AAA tournament held at William Blount High School on Friday and Saturday to determine the top four placeholders in each of the 14 weight classes.
Daniel Cochran, Brandon Crowe, Kevin Hood and Chris Simmons represented RCHS in the double elimination tourney. Cochran finished in fourth place and qualified for the state tournament, while Crowe and Simmons were just one win away from qualifying. Hood was just two wins away.
