RCHS hoop seniors enjoy night with wins over Sweetwater

The Sweetwater High School Wildcat basketball teams traveled to Evensville in hopes of avenging earlier losses to the Golden Eagle clubs of Rhea County High School (RCHS), but with senior night and alumni festivities on the slate for the RCHS teams on Tuesday night, the home team didn’t disappoint and swept the visitors.

Just like their meeting in November, the Lady Eagles again turned back the Lady Wildcats rather handedly, winning 44-13 this time but the Wildcats forced the Eagles to win at the free throw line with 1.7 seconds left, when Rhea’s Nick McWherter hit two clutch freebies to go ahead by one and eventually win 60-59 after a last ditch effort from Sweetwater’s Seth Battle missed from half court.
