The Rhea County Commission will consider implementing a $50
wheel tax in order to balance next year's county budget after discussing the issue at a workshop
session on Tuesday.
The commission is set to vote on the matter at its regular commission
meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Though the commission has voted down a wheel tax in the past,
some commissioners said their constituents favored a wheel tax over a property tax
increase.
