The Rhea County Commission voted down a proposal to purchase property along Rhea County Highway for the purpose of constructing a justice center during a meeting on Tuesday.
In a 6-3 vote, members of the county commission opted not to purchase the $350,000 property near Eagle Exxon; however, commissioners did support a measure to continue considering the current jail's parking lot as a possible site for expansion.
