Basketball season officially ended this week for the remaining Rhea County middle school teams left in the Southeastern Tennessee Athletic Conference/Sequatchie Valley Conference region tournament, being played at Rhea Central Elementary School.

Rhea Central's Yellow Jackets (6-17) were put out by Ocoee Middle School 43-27 on Tuesday despite a 10-point performance by Zack Schaffer and eight-point compliment by Chad Arnold.

The Lady Jackets (9-14) ended their season as well on Tuesday with a 48-35 loss to the Ocoee Middle Lady Colts. Amber Levi led Rhea Central's girls with 11 points, followed by Kelsey Miles with nine.

Ocoee also dashed Spring City Middle School's postseason hopes in the semifinals on Thursday. Further results were not available at press time.

The championship games from the SETAC/SVC tournament have been moved to Monday night at 5 and 6:15 p.m. Both boys' and girls' title bouts will be between Lake Forest and Ocoee middle schools.
