The Rhea County High School wrestling team wrapped up its regular season with two wins Tuesday night.

The Golden Eagle grapplers defeated hosting McMinn County High School 53-24 in addition to besting McMinn Central 48-24.

There were only four actual matches between the McMinn Central Chargers and the hometown boys due to forfeits.

Lucas Howell, Michael Hidalgo, Dustin Smith, Quinton Carter, Ethan Beddingfield and Zachary Cochran each took forfeit victories in the contest.

Meanwhile, Cam Wilkey (145 lbs.) and Christian McPherson (heavyweight) won by pins, falling their McMinn Central opponents in 1:56 and 2:42, respectively.

As for the Golden Eagles' bout with the McMinn County Cherokees, fewer matches were won by forfeit and more in the trenches.

Lucas Howell (119 lbs.) flattended Juan Hernandez in just 24 seconds.

Meanwhile, Hidalgo pinned Josh Steppe in 3:26, and Beddingfield muscled out a technical fall over Kodee Carter with 1 second remaining in the second period.

Binkley, Smith, Carter, Kyle Thurman and Brandon Crowe each won a forfeited match for Rhea County.

The Eagles were slated to compete in the Region Wrestling Duals on Friday, but results were not available at press time.

They will continue their postseason play on Feb. 12-13 at Alcoa High School in the Region 3 Championship Tournament.
