The Rhea Central Elementary School Yellow Jacket basketball teams finished their regular season Friday night in Dayton, taking on Bledsoe County Middle School's Warriors.
The RCES boys (4-15) pulled out a 44-38 victory with the help of a standout fourth quarter.
The hometown boys were trailing by one point heading into the final period, but went 12 of 21 at the free throw line. Meanwhile, Bledsoe's offense stalled out in the second half with a six-point third quarter and an eight-point fourth.
Austin Dotson led the Yellow Jackets in scoring, draining 13 points, including seven free throws in the final quarter. Meanwhile, Andrew Eastman added nine points and Krischan Goins tacked on six points.
Meanwhile, the Lady Jackets fell to 7-12 with a 34-29 loss to Bledsoe's Lady Warriors.
Rhea Central's girls battled back from a 23-10 half time deficit, outscoring Bledsoe 11-6 in the third and 8-6 in the fourth.
It was not enough, however, to make up for the first half.
Tori Gentry led the Lady Jackets in scoring, draining 10 poitns, while Megan Revis added eight rebounds, four steals and three points.
Sara Beth Mitchell completed three of four free throws on the night and finished with five points, while Amber Levi added three points, six steals and five rebounds to Rhea Central's effort.
The Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets will participate this week in the Sequatchie Valley Conference postseason tournament, to be held at Marion County High School.
Both teams were scheduled to play Tuesday night in the tourney against Jasper, but results were not available at press time.
