Rhea County High School senior football player Jordon Cox was recently selected to participate in a prestigious sports camp - 365 Sports.
"Only 20 kids in our conference were picked and only three football players," said Greg Cox, Jordon's father. "I couldn't believe when we got a letter a month ago. They said they saw a talent that could be even further pushed."
Cox is currently seeking help raising funds to attend a two-week long football camp to be held in Australia June 27 through July 7.
In addition to playing select teams from other country, participants will have the opportunity to see such sites as the Australia Great Barrier Reef, Sydney Harbor and the Rainforest Station Nature Park.
"Jordon has not even been out of the country before. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I believe, to be able to do something like this," Greg said.
To be selected for the program, players much be recommended by coaches, scouts or online scouts.
Greg was not sure who made the recomendation for his son, but was excited nonetheless.
Cox, one of Rhea County's leading tacklers for the 2009 football season, has been playing football since the age of 5. He has received correspondence from Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech, but has not received any scholarship offers yet.
"This should help put him out there," Greg said.
