Like all good things, Rhea County minor leaguer Cory Gearrin's shutout streak came to an end on June 25.
After pitching 10 and two-thirds innings without allowing a run, the Mississippi Braves relief pitcher gave up two earned runs in two innings and incurred a loss to the Birmingham Barons last Thursday.
Nonetheless, Gearrin's ERA is still a respectable 1.72.
He rebounded from the shaky outing to pitch two scoreless outings against the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, one inning on Tuesday and another on Wednesday.
Gearrin tallied three strikeouts in the two appearances.
The 2004 Rhea County High School graduate has only given up runs in two of his 11 appearances with the M-Braves, whom he joined in late May.
The Class AA Braves are slated for a four-game home series with the Diamond Jaxx over the Fourth of July weekend before traveling to Birmingham in the middle of the week.
