The Graysville Board of Mayor and Commissioners
appointed Gary Fritts as the town's new judge at its November meeting. Fritts has been serving as
town judge for the last few months, but since a new Graysville Board of Mayor and Commissioners was
elected on Nov. 4, he needed to be appointed again, according to Fritts. Fritts is a Dayton
native and has worked as an attorney at law for the past 35 years. The new town judge has held a
variety of positions throughout his career. These include general sessions judge and probate judge
for Rhea County, assistant district attorney general for Rhea and six other counties, Rhea County
Attorney, city attorney for the Town of Graysville, and city attorney for Spring City. Fritts
replaces Darren Gibson, who is now employed in Chattanooga. As Grayville's town judge, Fritts is
responsible for administering justice in traffic court and in issues pertaining to ordinance
violations in the town. The Graysville Town Court meets the third Thursday of every month at the
Graysville City Hall. "I try to be fair, equal, compassionate and hard when I need to be,"
said Fritts. The newly elected Graysville Board of Mayor and Commissioners will meet for the
first time at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Graysville City Hall. Michelle Friesen can be reached at
