An ankle-restraint system that has been in a testing phase has been deemed a success by the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department and plans are in place to ramp up the program this year.
By the end of the year, the department is hoping to increase the number of inmates that are using the ankle monitoring system instead of being incarcerated.
