The Rhea County Jail was certified for 2014 on Wednesday by the Tennessee Correction Institute’s [TCI] Board of Control at a meeting in Nashville.
The past few years have seen the jail decertified and recertified as county officials continue to address the chronic overcrowding problems at the jail, which Rhea County Executive George Thacker said is a problem faced across the state.
