The playoffs, like any single elimination tournament, are filled with do or die situations, and Friday was no exception, as the Rhea County High School Eaglesí football team trailed at halftime for only the second time all year and overcame adversity.
The Eagles scored in the first three minutes of the game, and it looked as though it was going to be a rout but early UT Vol commitment Jaylond Woods and the Lenoir City Panthers had other plans, as they kept pace with the Eagles and even led 24-21 at the half.
See The Herald-News Wednesday, Nov. 13, edition for the complete game story from Friday's 35-24 over Lenoir City. Also, see the complete Friday night game preview for the second round matchup against the Cleveland Blue Raiders on Friday, Nov. 15, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
As a reminder to Eagle fans, per TSSAA, tickets are $8 each.
Tickets will be presold at the Rhea County High School main office on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
