Rhea Middle School wrestlers, please remember that Monday, Oct. 21, is the deadline for physicals, consent forms, consent to travel and start-up fees (or sponsorship) for all wrestlers planning to participate during the 2013-2014 season.
There will be a wrestler/parent meeting in the Rhea Middle School gymnasium on Monday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. to turn in all wrestling paperwork and start-up fees and go over any questions you might have.
Rhea Middle School wrestling practice will begin on Monday, Oct. 28, and practices will run Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
The Rhea County High School [RCHS] Basketball Booster Club is hosting the Early Bird Tournament for area middle schools, beginning Monday, Oct. 21, at Rhea County High School’s new gym, on the main floor and the second gym.
The first tipoff will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and the same daily tipoff time applies for Tuesday and Thursday. The championships will be played on Saturday, Oct. 26, with action beginning at 9 a.m.
Admission to games is $4 for adults and $2 for students K-12. RCHS season passes will be on sale the week of the middle school tournament. The RCHS season passes will allow entry to all regular season games for ninth-grade, junior varsity, and varsity games at RCHS.
Adult season passes are $50 and student (K-12) season passes are $20. If you purchase a RCHS season ticket during the week of the middle school tournament, the ticket will give you access to the middle school tournament as well.
Sponsors’ season tickets will be mailed the week of Oct. 28. The Rhea County High School basketball teams will host the Eagles’ inaugural alumni weekend on Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23.
On Friday, Nov. 22, the Eagle cagers host Sweetwater, with the girls’ varsity game beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys will play at 7:30 p.m. The RCHS alumni games are slated to run on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Friday night, Nov. 22, all men and women basketball alumni will be invited to attend the basketball games for free. Organizers are asking that everyone please RSVP. There will be a recognition of those alumni in attendance. This event will be the first RCHS basketball game in the new RCHS gym. Alumni only, will gain single person admission. Family/friends will need to purchase a ticket at the door.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the alumni will be divided up into teams for games. Ladies, 6-man will be scheduled. Alumni, again, will gain admission, but family/friends will need to purchase a $2 ticket at the door.

At each home Rhea County High School football and basketball game between now and December 21, you can find the Lady Eagle Basketball Booth/table and see the donated NFL jerseys and make a donation to Lady Eagle Basketball. Each donation will give you an opportunity to win one of the jerseys. The winners of the jerseys will be announced during the final night of the Eagle Holiday Hoops Tournament on Saturday, December 21, between the girls’ and boys’ championship games. You do not have to be present to win. NFL jerseys include Tom Brady, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Ben Roethlisberger.
The Rhea Family YMCA will host the first annual 3-on-3 Fall Hoopla Basketball Tournament on Friday, Nov. 1, and the men’s and co-ed basketball league jamboree on Saturday, Nov. 2.
For the 3-on-3 groups are kids, family, and elite. The cost is $10 per player to compete and games will start at 4 p.m.
For the men’s and co-ed jamboree, teams must sign-up by calling or registering at Rhea Family YMCA. Costs are $20 per player and $100 per team. Each team can have a maximum of up to 12 players. Games will start at 9 a.m. For further questions on registering, call 423-775-0821.
The Upward Sports Program of Dayton is seeking volunteers for the 2013-14 season for basketball and cheerleading. Upward needs coaches, referees and other support personnel.
Upward Sports Program teaches sports skills and values, offers family friendly schedules and provides a positive approach to sports.
