Story Hour at Clyde W. Roddy Library — The Clyde W. Roddy Library, located on 1st Avenue in Dayton, will hold a children’s story hour every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
Activity Day at Spring City Care & Rehab (9/18) — Spring City Care & Rehab Center will host an activity day for their residents on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. The community is encouraged to come and assist the residents with their painting and flower arranging projects.
Spring City American Legion Post 203 Meeting (9/19) — Spring City American Legion Post 203 will have their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish dinner. Post 203 meets on the third Thursday of each month. Call 423-667-5060 for more information.
Graysville Fall Festival Pageant (9/20) — The Graysville Fall Festival Pageant will be held Friday, Sept. 20, at the Graysville City Hall, located at 136 Harrison Ave., beginning with check-in at 5 p.m. followed by the pageant at 6 p.m. Contact the City of Graysville at 775-9242 for more information.
Benefit for Landon (9/21) — A benefit for Landon will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Spring City Nature Park (the new walking park on the depot side of town). The benefit will include an auction, gospel singing and a fresh fish fry with all the fixin’s. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs. Proceeds will go towards the medical and funeral expenses of Landon Robbins and to help with continuing care of his younger siblings. Walden’s Ridge Community Center Dinner & Meeting (9/24) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. with a covered dish dinner followed by an informative meeting including plans for a re-enactment of the Hee-Haw television program and community activities. RCHS Class of 1988 25th Reunion (9/27 & 28) — The Rhea County High School Class of 1988 will meet Friday, Sept. 27, at the RCHS football field at 7 p.m. for the homecoming football game. Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (9/28) — The Civil Air Patrol will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport on Saturday, Sept. 28. The all-you-can-eat cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.
Benefit Concert for Matthew Wilson (9/28) — There will be a benefit concert for Matthew Wilson and his family on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Centennial Park in downtown Dayton. Concert is free, but donations will be accepted. Appearing at the concert will be Danny Shirley of Confederate Railroad, Roger Alan Wade, The Other Guys and Carrie Hassler. Matthew was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis Disease several months ago.
Music & Chili Benefit (9/28) — A music and chili benefit will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Spring City Red Dog Field beginning at 5 p.m. to assist with funeral expenses for longtime Spring City resident Clifford Holloway. The benefit will include a raffle drawing, cake sale, a dunking booth, face painting and more. Featured musical acts will include Tate Fugate, Jason Lancaster, Jeff Logsdon and Dandy Gillian and Drake Taylor. A special appearance by George Thacker is scheduled. Relay For Life (10/4) — The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at the Delaware Sports Complex beginning a 6 p.m. and continuing until Saturday, Oct. 5. Great Punkin Chase 5k Run/1 Mile Walk (10/5) — Chapter 942 of Vietnam Veterans of America present the 1st Annual Soddy-Daisy Great Punkin Chase 5k and 1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Soddy-Daisy North Park. Benefit Poker Run (10/12) — A benefit poker run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Minner Hole Lounge , located at 12169 Old Dayton Pike in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. The $20 per bike poker run will benefit the Soddy Daisy Health Care and Life Care Center of Rhea County nursing homes.
