With much hype and excitement of a new season surrounding the Golden Eagles’ football team of Rhea County High School, the team did not disappoint in its 55-20 season and home opening mauling of the Coffee County Red Raiders on Friday.
It seemed the Eagles had amassed a 21-0 advantage before Coffee County could finish warm ups, thanks to a stingy Rhea defense that forced the Red Raiders to punt on their first three drives. From there, the Rhea offense scored three touchdowns in only seven plays, with Dimitrius Patterson darting 60 yards, Joby Berry rambling 32 yards and Patterson crossing again from four yards out.
