The Dayton Youth Baseball signups for fall ball will be held every Saturday in August at the Jim Barnes Baseball Complex on Market Street in Dayton, from 10 a.m. to noon. The signup is for ages 5-and-up and the fee is $30.
Fall bowling leagues are forming now at Crystal Lanes Bowling Center, which begin on Aug. 12. Morning and evening leagues are available, so sign up today by calling Debbie or Amanda at 775-1547.
Signups for the Dayton Girls’ Softball Association [DGSA] fall ball will be held on July 29 and 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Aug. 12 and 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Dayton Girls’ Softball will host a fall tournament on Sept. 6 and 7. Registration for teams will be $40 and first and second place teams will receive team trophies. 6U and 8U will get participation awards. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency [TWRA] will conduct a Hunter Education Class on Aug. 5, 6, 8 and 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Aug. 10, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., in the little theater at the old Rhea County High School, which is now known as Rhea Middle School, in Evensville.

The Rhea Family YMCA is now taking registrations for the Fall Youth Soccer League for ages 3-13. A coaches’ meeting will be held on Aug.15, at 6 p.m. and a parents meeting will be on Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.

Former UT football coach Phillip Fulmer and former Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden are scheduled to host An Evening for Champions, benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Friday, Aug. 9, with doors opening at 7:15 p.m. and the program starting at 8 p.m.

The Rhea County High School [RCHS] bowling team will host a benefit tournament on Saturday, Aug. 17, beginning at 2 p.m., at the Crystal Lanes Bowling Center.
There is room for only 16 teams, so sign up now. Five-member teams of any age or sex are accepted in this non-sanctioned tournament. The cost is $20 per bowler or $100 per team. Door prizes will be given to everyone who enters the tourney. All proceeds will benefit the RCHS bowling team for its upcoming inaugural season this fall.

The Rhea County United Way will host the Fish the Chick Bass Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 31, beginning at 6:30 a.m., with weigh-ins beginning at 3 p.m. Anglers will launch out of the Dayton Boat Dock on Lake Chickamauga.
The tournament is open to men and women anglers and the entry fee is $50 per boat, with a $10 per boat Big Fish Award pot (optional). Early registration by Aug. 23, includes: Entry fee and Fish the Chick tee shirt.
First place prize is $1,000, to be awarded to the top finishing boat. A Day at the Spa, provided by Expressions, will be awarded to the top lady angler.

The Rhea Medical Healthcare Foundation is gearing up for the 8th Annual Timothy Morrow Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, at the Dayton Golf & Country Club. Funds raised from this event will be used to support the healthcare of Rhea County through the provision of state-of-the-art equipment, programs and services delivered through Rhea Medical Center.
Following a delicious breakfast and/or luncheon, golfers will take to the links where several hole-in-one prizes await. In addition there will be very special prizes for the top three winning teams, longest drive, straightest drive and closest to the pin.
