While most other football players were taking a break from lifting weights and workouts during the TSSAA mandated dead period. Spring City Middle School [SCMS] football player Tayne Davis got the chance to put on the pads for three days of two a day practices and then participate in the Junior Prep Nation Tennessee-Georgia All-Star game held at Red Bank high school in July.
Davis first had a tryout as a quarterback and linebacker. He made the team as a punter. After several players failed to show up for the practices, Davis was inserted into the starting line up on defense.
