Rose Montgomery Art Class at ArtCrafters (7/13) — ArtCrafters on Market Street in Dayton, will host Rose Montgomery on Saturday, July 13, as she shares a new concept in art onto canvas. An example can be seen in the window of ArtCrafters on on their web site. Cost of the class is $35. The class is open to those 15 years of age or older. Kids Art Adventure at ArtCrafters (7/17) — ArtCrafters on Market Street in Dayton, will host a Kids Art Adventure for ages 6 to 18 on Wednesday, July 17, from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. Local artist Sally Fleming will share how to create a picture with masonite and tissue paper. Southern Appalachian Back Country Horsemen (7/18) — The Southern Appalachian Back Country Horsemen will hold their meeting at the Athens Diner in Athens, Tenn., on Thursday, July 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The program will be presented by club members giving presentations of their various horse trips. Spring City Shake the Lake Independence Day Celebration (7/20) — Spring City will hold their annual “Shake the Lake” Independence Day celebration at Veteran’s Park on Saturday, July 20. The all-day event will start with registration for the Mr. & Miss Firecracker Pageant at 9 a.m. The pageant will include five age categories for boys and girls from newborn to 8-years-old. The pageant will begin at 10 a.m. with the Baby Miss Firecracker category and will continue until the final Mister Firecracker category begins at 12:15 p.m. The afternoon’s events will begin with registration for the watermelon and pickle eating contests at noon with the pickle eating contest beginning at 1 p.m. followed by the watermelon eating contest at 1:30 p.m. Karaoke will begin at 2 p.m. followed by sign-ups for the Diaper Derby, Teddy Bear Run and Duck Race at 3 p.m. The Diaper Derby will begin at 4 p.m. followed by the Teddy Bear Run at 4:15 p.m. and the Duck Race at 5 p.m. The events continue into the evening as live band music continues with Corey Rose and Evervigilant performing until dark when fireworks will light the night sky to conclude to festivities.
Walden’s Ridge Community Center Benefit Saghetti Dinner (7/20) — The Walden’s Ridge Community Center will hold a benefit spaghetti dinner on Saturday, July 20, at 4 p.m. Price for the adult meal is $5 and meals for children 12 and under are $3.50. Menu will include spaghetti, salad, garlic toast, drinks and desert. Cake walks will also be held throughout the evening.
Reflect N’ Us Art Gallery at Spring City Care and Rehab (7/25-8/8) — Spring City Care and Rehab to host art gallery July 25. Spring City Care and Rehab will host its first Reflect N’ Us Art Gallery beginning Thursday, July 25, at 4 p.m. The Art Gallery will showcase artwork by Spring City Care and Rehab’s own residents using a variety of media, including oil and water color paintings, charcoal, ink, chalk, pencil and clay. The gallery will also feature creations by the residents, including quilts, jewelry and more. These creations will be on display through Aug. 8. The Art Gallery is available for public viewing. Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (7/27) — The Civil Air Patrol will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport on Saturday, July 27. The all-you-can-eat cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.
Evensville Fire Department Fundraiser (7/27) — The Evensville Fire Department will be host a fundraiser on July 27, at the Evensville Fire Hall on Eagle Lane beginning at 7 a.m. There will be a pancake breakfast, yard sale and car wash. The event will be held rain or shine, and all proceeds will go toward the completion of the Fire Hall. Donations for yard sale would be appreciated. Further information please call 423-593-3993.
Liza Cagle Benefit Spaghetti Supper and Silent Auction (7/27) — A spaghetti supper and silent auction will be held for 5-year-old Liza Cagle on Saturday, July 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 268 W. Jackson Avenue in Spring City. Cost for the spaghetti supper is $15 per person for adults and $7 for children under 12. Proceeds will go towards Cagle’s medical expenses related to her most recent surgery. Discount tickets are available for $12 at the city hall in Spring City, the Audrey Pack Memorial Library or by calling 365-5203. The Kiwanis Club of Spring City and First Presbyterian Church is sponsoring the benefit.
Spring City Historical Museum “Dinky Line” Quilt Show Entry Day (7/27) — The “Dinky Line” Quilt Show will be accepting public entries on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The quilt show will be held at the Spring City Museum Annex from Monday, Aug. 5 to Saturday, Aug. 17. Cub Scout Pack 3214 Flag Retirement Ceremony (8/5) — Dayton Cub Scout Pack 3214 will hold an American Flag Retirement Ceremony on Monday, Aug. 5, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Dayton United Methodist Church. A flag collection box has been placed at Fastenal, located at 200 Able Towne Place in Dayton. The public is invited to attend the retirement ceremony.
Spring City Historical Museum “Dinky Line” Quilt Show (8/5-17) — The Spring City Historical Museum will present the “Dinky Line” Quilt Show from Monday, Aug. 5, to Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Spring City Museum Annex, located at 150 West Rhea Avenue in Spring City. The quilt show will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and free for children.
