The Rhea County Board of Education passed the 2013-14 budget that includes a deficit in excess of $1.5 million, which will be balanced with money from the education departmentís fund balance, at the boardís normal monthly meeting on Thursday.
Board vice chair John Mincy, who is also budget committee chairperson, told the board he was thankful for the help of school personnel and the county finance department.
