Dayton American Legion Auxiliary Post 100 Children’s Poppy Poster Contest — The American Legion Auxiliary Post 100 will host a Poppy Poster Contest for kindergarten through 12th-grade children. An instruction sheet for the contest is available at ArtCrafters on Market Street in downtown Dayton. Deadline for entries to be submitted is June 1. Winners will be chosen is each age group on June 2.
RCHS Class of 2003 Reunion (6/1) — Rhea County High School Class of 2003 is planning their 10-year reunion on Saturday, June 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the DeBarge Winery Tasting Room in downtown Chattanooga. Tickets are $40 a person and need to be purchased prior to the event. Reservation may be made via Paypal (email RCHSclassof03@gmail.com to receive the link) or mail a check with your name on the memo line to Class of 2003, 188 Bryan Drive, Dayton, TN, 37321. Dillard Family Reunion (6/1) — The Dillard family will hold a reunion on Saturday, June 1, at Point Park in Dayton. Lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. All family members are invited.
Yard Sale & Bake Sale for Relay For Life (6/1) — A Yard Sale and Bake Sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at Mega Pawn on Rhea County Highway. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Benefit Dinner at Luminary Frostbite Volunteer Fire Dept. (6/1) — The Luminary Frostbite Volunteer Fire Dept. will host a benefit Fried Chicken Dinner on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 11 years of age and younger. Proceeds will benefit the fire dept. Dinner will include a choice of two meats, three sides, one bread, one dessert and one drink for adults. For children, the dinner will include a choice of one meat, two sides, one bread, one dessert and one drink. Menu is subject to change from month to month. The fire department is located on Summer City Road, 13 miles north of State Route 30 or 11 miles on Shut-In Gap Road from Spring City.
Tops & Bottoms Women’s Health Event (6/1) — “Tops and Bottoms: A Women’s Health Event” will be held on Saturday, June 1, beginning at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Dayton. This free event is open to women of all ages and will include a fun and informative talk about breast and cervical health. Refreshments, give-aways and door prizes will be available.
Rhea County Academy Summer Camp (6/3 - 7/22) — Rhea County Academy will host an eight-week summer camp from June 3 through July 22. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school with after-hours child care available until 6 p.m. For more information or to register, contact Rhea County Academy at 775-2826.
Rhea County Democratic Party Meeting (6/4) — The Rhea County Democratic Party will have an executive committee meeting followed by a general membership meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at Winstead’s American Grill in Spring City beginning with the meal at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting afterward at 7:30 p.m. For information call Doris Roy at 365-2836 or Kathleen Garrison at 365-9048.
Rhea Central High School Golden Grads Luncheon (6/8) — The Rhea Central High School Golden Grads Luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 8, at Bryan College beginning at noon. Flea Market at Pine Grove Fire Department (6/8) — Pine Grove Fire Department will hold their annual flea market on Saturday, June 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the fire department on Euchee Chapel Road in Spring City. To donate items and to schedule a pick-up for large items, call 365-9294 and leave a message if no one answers.
“October Baby” Movie Screening (6/14) — Women;s Care Center in partnership with Concord Union Church will host a screening of the movie “October Baby” on Friday, June 14, beginning at 7 p.m.
Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (6/22) — The Civil Air Patrol will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport on Saturday, June 22. The cost for the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.
