Rhea County 4-H was well represented at the Southeastern Corner 4-H Achievement Day on April 13. The events conducted were public speaking, dairy posters, demonstrations, photography, bread baking, interactive exhibits and portfolios. Rhea County 4-Hers that participated in the public speaking event included Mason Jolley (fifth-grade — participation), Arianna Long (sixth grade — second place), Samantha Price (seventh-grade — third place) and Lauren Payton (eighth-grade — third place).
Those participating in demonstrations included Charity Yarger (first place, Fourth-Grade Food Science), Tommy Newman (third place, Fifth-Grade Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries), Kobe King, (third place, Fourth-Grade Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries) and Kyle Carr (second place, Fifth-Grade Engineering and Safety Science).
Those participating in the June Dairy Month poster contest included Alexa McCord (first place), Emileigh Brown (second place), Camryn Carder (third place), and Jacob Reed (participation). These activities start at the school club level and the students work their way up to the Sub-Regional level by improving upon their projects and practicing them each day until the contest. These activities as well as any other program offered by Rhea County 4-H are open to all youth enrolled in grades four through 12.
