The Ed Gentry Strawberry Chase, benefitting the Rhea Family YMCA Fitness Department, will be held on Saturday, May 4, with registration beginning at 7 a.m.
There will be a 5K, 10K and 1-mile family fun run/walk. Races begin and end at the YMCA. The start for the 5K and 10K race is 8 a.m. The one-mile fun run will begin at 9 a.m.
The cost for the one-mile fun run/walk is $15 and the cost for the 5K and 10K is $35.
A volleyball camp will be held at Rhea Central Elementary School, beginning on Monday, May 13, and running through Thursday, May 16, from 3:15 to 5 p.m. daily for girls from the third-grade to seventh-grade.

This year’s Strawberry Invitational Golf Tournament will take place at the Dayton Golf and Country Club on Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, but the deadline to enter is Thursday, May 16.
There is an entry fee of $100 per person, which includes a greens fee for a practice round (cart not included, the cost is $15), lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and a player’s reception Saturday evening at 6 p.m.
The Strawberry Invitational is a 36-hole individual tournament.
From Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17, each player that enters will have the opportunity to play one free practice round. On Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, players need to sign up for a tee time, and on Sunday, May 19, there will be shotgun start for all players.
Organizers hope to have five flights if they get a full field of 80-plus participants. First place finishers in each flight will win a new set of Ping G20 irons.

On Saturday, May 18, the TWRA and the Sandhill Boat Co. will hold a boating license class for students born after Jan. 1, 1989. Students must successfully complete the course and pass the test to receive license. Class hours will be from 8 a.m. till 2 p.m.
Interested persons must call 423-775-6800 to register for class. The minimum age to take class is 12-years-old. Students must purchase a Type 600 exam permit and the cost of permit is $10 and can be bought anywhere hunting and fishing licenses are sold. The class will be held at Sandhill Boat Co., located at 3825 Rhea County Highway in Dayton.
The 18th Annual Spring City Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, with registration beginning at noon and tee-off slated for 1 p.m. at the Dayton Golf and Country Club.
It will be a four-person select shot tourney with cash prizes going to the first, second and third-place finishers, along with great hole-in-one prizes. There will be door prizes and goody bags and prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

The Rhea County Soccer Camp will be four days of soccer fun from Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 6. Camp hours will be from 8 a.m. until noon daily at the Rhea County High School [RCHS] soccer practice field, which can be accessed by turning left behind Eagle Stadium.
The cost is $35 per person, which includes breakfast and lunch, as well as a camp T-shirt while they last. The camp will be directed by the RCHS coaching staff and athletes.
Campers will need to bring tennis shoes, cleats, shin guards and a water bottle. Registration will be on opening day of camp. On June 6, campers need to wear clothes that can get wet/muddy. For more information or questions, contact coach Justin Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The RCHS Kid’s Cheer Camp will begin on Monday, June 3, and will run through Friday, June 7, from 9 a.m. until noon daily. The cost is $50 per camper, which includes a snack and T-shirt. Ages 4-and-up are welcomed to register at the door on the first day of camp.

Rhea County High School [RCHS] head boys’ basketball coach Mike Phillips will host a boys’ basketball skills camp, which will begin on Monday, June 10, and run through Thursday, June 13, at RCHS.
The camp will be divided up into two age groups. Camp A will run each day from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for ages 6-10, and Camp B will run from 11 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. for ages 11-14.
The fundamentally designed skill camp will emphasize footwork, shooting, passing, ball handling and man to man defense, where Phillips will lead the campers each day in a 2.5 hour Golden Eagles’ basketball practice. Phillips’ purpose for the camp is to promote the game of basketball, and he hopes players will learn and have fun playing the game. Instructors will provide the appropriate fundamentals for each age level.
The cost per each camper will be $50, which provides 10 hours of instruction, awards and a t-shirt. Phillips’ camps have sold out over the past 15 years, so reserve your position today because there is a maximum of 40 participants per camp.
