Free Basic Introduction to Computer Class — Rhea County Adult Education will offer a free Basic Introduction to Computer class in early May. Those interested in registering are asked to call 775-7881 and leave their name and phone number.
Free Stress Release Classes Offered — A free stress release class will be held every Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Goodwill Store on Able Drive in Dayton. Licensed massage therapist David Wilson will teach massage skills to relieve tight muscles and tense nerves. For more info, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Free Parenting Class (4/25) — A free parenting class will be held on Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bright Beginnings Academy, located at 861 Manufacturers Road in Dayton. The “Building Blocks for Parents” class is sponsored by First Things First in partnership with The Rhea County United Way and Bright Beginnings Academy. Parents of infants and toddlers are encouraged to attend. The class is free and dinner will be provided but pre-registration is required. Call 423-267-5383 for more information or to register. Spring City American Legion Post 203 Meeting (4/18) — Spring City American Legion Post 203 will have their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish dinner. Post 203 meets on the third Thursday of each month. Call 423-667-5060 for more information.
Rhea County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting (4/18) — The Rhea County Farm Bureau will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, April 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. Steating is limited, so reservations are encouraged. Call the Farm Bureau at 775-9171 to make reservations.
Benefit Chili Lunch and Auction for Dedra Reed Crass (4/20) — A benefit chili lunch and auction is being organized for Dedra Reed Crass who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The benefit is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Grandview Community Center. Donations of auction items and monetary contribution will be welcomed and appreciated. Edith Stinnett-Ernest Stewart Family Reunion (4/20) — The familys of Edith Stinnett and Ernest Stewart will hold an old-time family gathering on Saturday, April 20, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Middle Valley Church of God Family Life Center, located at 1703 Thrasher Pike in Hixson, Tenn. Spring City Christian Art Guild Forming (4/21) — The Spring City Christian Art Guild will hold their initial meeting on Sunday, April 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Veteran’s Park. Father-Son Retreat at Fort Bluff Camp (4/26 & 27) — Fort Bluff Camp on Ogden Rd. will host a Father-Son Retreat on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27. The retreat is open to fathers and sons over 10 years of age and includes meals, lodging, seminiars and activities. Cost of the event is $100 for father and one son with an additional $25 for each additional son. Rhea Family YMCA Healthy Kids Day (4/27) – The Rhea Family YMCA will host a Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 27, This is a free community event that will help families find fun through active play and educational opportunities to improve health and well-being. Fly-In, Drive-In Breakfast (4/27) — The Civil Air Patrol will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Mark Anton Municipal Airport on Saturday, April 27. The all-you-can-eat cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The event will be held rain or shine.
Audrey Pack Memorial Library Community Yard Sale (4/27) — The Friends of the Audrey Pack Memorial Library in Spring City will host a community yard sale on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the library on W. Rhea Avenue. Booth space may be reserved at a cost of $8 on the hardtop or $6 on the lawn. Participants must furnish their own tables. The Friends will offer baked goods for sale and welcome donations of household items for their white elephant table.
John Quincy Adams Shaver Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy Meeting (4/27) — The John Quincy Adams Shaver Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet at 10 a.m. on April 27 in Dayton. Price for the meal will be $10 which includes the meal, a dessert and a drink.
