Heading into the District 5-AAA basketball tournament, the Rhea County High School Lady Golden Eagles had a 1-1 season record against the Lady Mustangs of Walker Valley, and after a hard fought opening round battle, Walker Valley edged Rhea 52-48, thus ending the season with a 19-9 record.

After falling behind 2-0, the Lady Eagles got on the board with a Julie Brown 3-pointer from the top of the key.  Rhea garnered other first quarter points from Shelby Thurman, Amber Levi and a pair of treys by Whitney Thompson to take a 20-14 lead headed to the second period.
