As we look back on the Washington Bicentennial, our committee has heard from many who attended this event. All who were there had positive comments, but wanted us to go one step farther and publish information on the tour sites. This part of the celebration seemed to generate more interest than anything else during that day. Since we had so many people asking for this information, we are glad to share it with you.
Much time and effort went into the research done by Gary Drinkard, Charlie Carney, and Robert Aikman. Many of the places were traced from deeds and maps; others were searched from memory and talking with former and present citizens of the area. Pictures exist for some of the former buildings around the Washington region, and give us an idea of what life was like in the early days of this fine settlement.
