The Rhea County Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is sponsoring a Toy Drive in conjunction with the Optimist Club on Friday, Dec. 7, for admission to the RCHS and Soddy-Daisy basketball games. To get into the games, all a fan has to do is bring a new unwrapped toy worth at least $5 for either a boy or girl from K-5th grade. The donation can be made by a student or adult and allows entry into all games including JV and Varsity.
High Impact Teens is bringing former UT Football standout Inky Johnson to Dayton for a series of special events the weekend of December 15-16.
On Saturday morning, Inky Johnson and Ken Turner will be participating in a very special Angel Tree Christmas party at First Baptist Church of Kingston, Tenn., where the church will provide Christmas gifts to children who have a parent in prison.
Saturday, Dec. 15, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., Inky will have a special book signing at Bimbo's Restaurant in Dayton. His book, Inky, An Amazing Story of Faith and Perseverance is a powerful message of Inky's life growing up in Kirkwood, the most dangerous neighborhood of Atlanta. Inky shares about being recruited to play football at the University of Tennessee and while being recruited by several NFL teams and at the pinnacle of success, he suffered a life changing injury. His faith and perseverance as an author and speaker has impacted thousands to never give up.
Families are encouraged to stop by Bimbo's, meet Inky, get an autograph and if you would like, you may purchase Inky's book.
Sunday, Dec. 16, at 9 a.m. and again at 11 a.m., Inky will be speaking at First United Methodist Church, 993 Market Street, Dayton.
Inky Johnson is an official partner in Ken Turner's youth outreach ministry, High Impact Teens. To learn more visit www.highimpactteens.org
