While the meteoric rise of Rhea native and Atlanta Braves pitcher Cory Gearrin is intertwined with talent and hard work, it still fits MainStreet Dayton's Horse and Carriage Parade's theme of "A Storybook Christmas."

Gearrin has been named the grand marshal for the parade through downtown Dayton on Saturday, Dec. 1, and it was his own storybook "story" that led the parade committee to pick Gearrin, along with the theme, according to MainStreet Dayton Executive Director Anna Tromahauser.
