McLendon “Mack” Rigsby, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at his home.
Born is Valdosta, Ga., Mack was the son of the late McLendon and Lena Parham Rigsby. He served his country during the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Navy. Mack was an iron worker and retired from Buccaneers Steel in Tampa, Fla. after 25 years of service. He and his wife, Janice “Jay”, moved from Florida to the Spring City community in 1995. He was a former volunteer with the Spring City Fire Department and served as chief for several years. Mack was instrumental in helping secure various funds for the fire department. He was of the Protestant faith.
Mack was also preceded in death by sisters, Jewel Bruner and Josephine Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Janice “Jay” St. Jernquist Rigsby; son, Steve (Barbara) Rigsby; daughter, Kimberly (Lloyd) Anderson all of Spring City; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
