Verna Jean Hill, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at Rhea Medical Center.
Born in Athens, Tenn., Jean was the daughter of James L. and Hazel Wilson Womac. She moved from Meigs County, Tenn. to the Spring City community 33 years ago. Jean was a retired master seamstress. She enjoyed making quilts and pocketbooks and working in the yard. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Spring City.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, James L. Womac.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Richard Hill of Spring City; mother, Hazel W. Womac of Riceville, Tenn.; children, Tim Queen and Tammi (Robert) Trowbridge both of Riceville and Greg (Kris) Hill and Curtis (Jessica) Hill both of Spring City; brothers, Jimmy Womac and Phillip Womac both of Riceville, Tenn.; sisters, Norma Mahaffey of Kingston, Tenn., Ella Mae Womac of Riceville, Tenn. and Martha Lewis of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald and Rev. Charles Armour officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
