Helen McClure Matthew went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 21, 2013. She was a member of New Union Baptist Church and was very blessed when she was able to attend Bible Study classes in the past at New Union. Helen had also attended a Bible Study class in previous years with Christine and Cheryl Vaughn and numerous other friends, which she enjoyed very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Matthew; parents, Loyd and Frances McClure; sisters, Carrie Davis and Doris Morrison and brothers, Lester McClure, Maynard McClure, Ray McClure and Max McClure.
Survivors include her two children, Joyce (David) Harris and Levon Smiht (Patty Morgan) all of Dayton; grandchild, Kitty (Jerry) Sneed of Dayton; great-grandchildren, Shaylee, Jerrod and Justin Sneed; sisters, Naomi (Claude) Goins, Rosa Lee Arnold both of Dayton and Vicki (Gerald) Napier of Knoxville, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews and too many cousins to count.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Ruehling and Rev. Bob Armstrong officiaiting. Burial will be at Smith Wilkey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dicky Porter, Rick, Joe and Danny Jordan, Terry Goins and Jerry Gurley with Jon Ives and Bob Arnold as alternates.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
