Elizabeth M. Chapek 89, died Friday Aug. 30, 2013, at the Spring City Care Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Mary Kucker Siemer. Elizabeth was a telephone operator and worked for AT&T many years before her retirement. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader. Elizabeth enjoyed ceramics, cross-stitching and knitting as well as flower arranging, for which she won ribbons at the Rhea County Fair. Elizabeth loved to dance. She was a member of St. Raphaels Episcopal Church in Crossville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Chapek and her brothers, Henry and Robert Siemer.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth (Dale) Hannah of Pikeville, Tenn. and Lorie (Jim) Maerki of Grandview and grandsons Elliott and Wyatt Maerki both of Grandview.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Churchwell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
Because Elizabeth was a lifelong animal lover; in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Cold Nose Coalition, c/o Jill Allison, 111 Williams Street, Spring City, TN 37381.
