Allan Raymon Spreen (97)

Allan Raymon Spreen, 97, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at his home in St.
Augustine, Fla. He was President of Suburban Manufacturing Co. in Dayton from 1964 until 1984.
A native of Nutley, N.J., he was the son of Raymon and Gertrude Halsey Spreen. He
was a 1938 graduate of Georgia Tech. Employed by the Glenn L, Martin
Aircraft Co. (now Martin-Marietta) before and during WWII, he supervised the inspection of airplanes including the famous B-26 bomber. Later, he served as president of Southern Industries in Richmond, Va. from 1951 to19 63 and finally president of Suburban Mfg.
The Spreens retired initially to Ponte Vedra, Fla. in 1984. They moved to
Mesa, Ariz. in 1994 to be near grandchildren. Allan remained there after his
wife’s death until he followed his daughter to St. Augustine, Fla. in 2009.
Mr. Spreen was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ann Douglas “Nancy” Noland Spreen, who died on Oct. 3, 2006, and his eldest daughter Nancy Noland Spreen, who died on March 10, 1976. He is survived by three children, Allan N. Spreen of Jacksonville, Fla, Catherine Spreen Arnold of Saint Augustine, Fla. and Roger B. Spreen of Los Altos Hills, Calif. as well as seven grandchildren.
