David Lowell Gunter, 72, of Spring City, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, at Roane Medical Center, Harriman, Tenn. He was born April 16, 1941, In Harriman, Tenn. to Thomas “Jack” Jackson and Thelma Gladys Phillips Gunter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Gunter was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, the Elk Lodge, the Eagles Lodge and the V.F.W. He was a deacon of New Vision Ministries in Lansing, Tenn. Preceding him in death were his brothers, William Roy Gunter, David Lowell Gunter, Jr., Jimmy “Cowboy” Allen Gunter and David Brooks and sister, Jacqueline Gunter Christopher.
Survivors include his spouse, Marilyn “Sue” Gunter; daughter, Carmen Michelle “Mikki” Gunter; sons, David Lowell “Bo” Gunter, David Jack “D.J.” (Anna) Gunter and Mark Allen Gunter; grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Gunter, Kassidy Faye Gunter, Haleigh Marie Gunter, Tyler Jackson Gunter, Isaiah Taylor Gunter, Mikayla Avery Gunter, Dakota Kyle Daniel Gunter and Harlee George Nicholas Gunter; two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 1, from noon until 1 p.m. at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, Tenn. A graveside service and interment will follow the visitation in Willard Park Cemetery in Harriman with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard with Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of David Lowell Gunter.
