The Herald-News Obituary Submission Guidelines

The Herald-News publishes twice per week, on Sundays and Wednesdays. Obituaries are published in every edition of The Herald-News. We only accept submissions from funeral homes and similar institutions. Family members wishing to have an obituary published in The Herald-News are asked to contact the facility handling the arrangements.

Deadlines for Submission:

Wednesday edition: 12 Noon (EST) on Tuesday
Weekend edition: 12 Noon (EST) on Friday

Obituary Costs and Additional Charges:

Standard Obituary Cost: $30
Photo Included: Standard Cost plus additional $15
Lengthy Obit (extended family members named): Standard Cost plus additional $15
Out-of-Town Obit (No local connection mentioned): Standard Cost plus additional $15

Submitting An Obituary:

All Submissions Must Include Name, Mailing Address, and Phone Number of the Funeral Home For Billing Purposes.

In Person:

Bring them by The Herald-News office at 3687 Rhea County Hwy in Dayton
Office Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM
