Rev. Roscoe Francis Smith Sr., 99, of Dayton,
went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Saturday morning Feb. 15, 2014, at
home. He was born in Morehouse,
Mo. on Nov. 16, 1914 the son of the late Jasper and Margarete Caldwell Smith.
He is also preceded in death by his wife, Abbie Ruth Stevenson Smith and his
fourteen brothers and sisters.
Rev. Smith was a graduate of the Baptist
Bible Seminary in Clark Summit, Penn. and had been a resident of Dayton since
1979. He had served as pastor of
churches in New York, Indiana and Alaska.
He is survived by his three sons, Roscoe
(Rose) Smith Jr., of Vestal, N.Y., David (Cindy) Smith of Rochester, N.Y. and
Mark (Nancy) Smith of Bloomington, Ill.; three daughters, Frances (Bob) Wiggins
of Waco, Texas, Virginia Miller of Dayton and Kristina Smith of Austell, Ga.;
seventeen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and five
Funeral services for Rev. Smith will be held
Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home with Rev.
Mark Smith and Rev. Curtis Sayre officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Rhea Memory
