Dallas Smith, 65, of Dayton, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at
Rhea Medical Center.
Dallas was a lifetime resident of Rhea County and attended Morgan
Springs Baptist Church. He worked for TVA for 20 years and combustion in Chattanooga for 13
years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
Purser and Anna Thomas Smith; mother and father-in-law, Adita and Harvey Taylor; brother George
Smith and sister, Shirley Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Frances I. Smith of
Dayton; three children, Mike Smith, Greg Smith and Tiffany Smith of Dayton; Tanya (Stephen) Newland
of San Juan, Puerto Rico; three sisters, Maxine Cole of Oklahoma City, Okla., Nina (Tom) Blackford
of Cleveland, Ohio and Wilma Jean (Michael) Richardson of Milford Del.; James Smith of Evensvile;
seven grandchildren, Rodman Smith, Kirsten Newland, Brooklyn Smith, Bailee Smith, Ian Newland, Sean
Newland and Bristol Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Smith officiating
and John Sharp speaking. Burial will be at Rhea Memory Gardens.
The family will receive
friends on Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m.
