Herbert A. “Gene” Gilliam, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Gene was the son of the late Homer and Patsy Bane Gilliam. Gene was a retired truck driver and operated the Grandview Convenience Center until his recent illness. He attended the Grandview Christian Fellowship Church.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Anita Thomas and brothers, Jack, George and Buddy Gilliam.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Thelma Teffer Gilliam; sons, Alfred (Brenda) Gilliam, Jerry (Debbie) Gilliam, Tommy (Connie) Gilliam and Jimmy (Karen) Gilliam all of Grandview; brother Robert (Viola) Gilliam of Crab Orchard, Tenn.; sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Lands of Dayton, Christine (Carl) Arms of Midtown, Tenn., Carolyn (Gordon) Keene of Satsuma, Fla., Patricia (Jim) Bledsoe of Rockwood, Tenn. and Faye Cooper of Grandview; brother-in-law, Bill (Debbie) Teffer of Grandview; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 13, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Zimmerman, Rev. Stephen Zimmerman and Rev. Claude Pendergrass officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Stand Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from noon until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
