Oleta Edath Whitfield, 86 of Dayton, died
Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Soddy Daisy Health Care Center.
Mrs. Whitfield was born
February 8, 1923 in Dayton to the late James and Ada (Montgomery) Olinger. She graduated from Rhea
Central High School and until the 1970's lived in Battle Creek, Mich. and Atlanta, Ga.
She was an avid bowler and won many trophies in tournaments. She was of the Seventh Day
Adventist faith.
Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by her husband, James William
Whitfield; and sisters, Hazel Wilkey, Ruby Ward and Lila McMillan.
Survivors include her
three daughters, Carol Green of Niceville, Fla., Lila Lee of Hixson, Tenn., and Robin Godsey of
Dayton.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 12 p.m. in the chapel of
Vanderwall Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring City Memorial Gardens.
The family
will receive friends Friday, Feb. 5, after 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
